Grandkids in the Broughton Islands

It took Chelsey two days to drive from Spokane with Jayden and Ethan to meet up with us in Port McNeill on the East side of Vancouver Island. Ryan was still busy with school and had to pass on this trip. What a special treat to have Chelsey and the boys spend time with us. The day after they arrived we headed to Cullen Harbour on Broughton Island. Our hopes were to catch shrimp and crab.

John and Chelsey launched the dinghy to take the boys out to set the pots, which ended up being a daily event.

Jayden and Ethan loved playing with the Wii-Fit balancing games and making new "Miis".

It rained for a couple of the days so Grandpa and the boys had lots of guy bonding time.......

We visited Sullivan Bay on North Broughton Island. All the homes are "floating" and are mostly owned by Americans as a second home, according to the manager that we talked to.

Bringing in the shrimp pot was a big success-----at least 50 prawns..... Yummmm!




While fishing off the back of Serena Ray, Chelsey caught a 10" bull-head. A local eagle was quite impressed and kept circling the boat hoping he could be the "lucky guy" to get the catch. He stayed with us for a long time, then gave up.

Helping Grandma with the dishes............. Oh, how these boys have grown.....later that same night Jayden read a book to Ethan and I called "Owl's Secret" , which was his favorite book that I used to read to him in Lewiston.

Sunset in the Broughtons................The time with our family was way too short but any chance we can be together is a real blessing.

Now, John and and I will visit friends in Port Hardy who were on the Baja Ha-Ha with us over 8 months ago. We will then head north to Prince Rupert to pick up our next crew, Jim and Sue Gentry from Clarkston. The 4 of us will then head for the Queen Charlotte Islands for 9 days!!
