Switzerland and the Alps

The Alps were a major change from the big cities of Europe. We stayed in Murren, a small village located under The Eiger (remember the Clint Eastwood movie?) at an altitude of 5,500'. The sun and clear skies arrived with us for our 2 day stay (the hotel told us that they had 14 days of rain prior!). Hiking here is hard to describe... the area is trailed all the way to the peaks and dotted with chairlifts/gondolas.


















Our hotel was something to see! It was on the edge of a 3,000' cliff, overlooking the valley below and facing the major peaks of Eiger, Jungfrau, and Monch, all above 13,000 feet.
