Newport Beach to San Diego--getting closer to entering Mexico

Serena Ray was "on the hard" in Newport Beach having some last minute work done. We lived aboard for the five days and she is finally ready to head south. Newport was a neat place with homes on the water. Fishing is a huge sport, as is kayaking and every kind of water sport.

Oceanside

Here are some of our "dock-buddies" in Oceanside. We stayed there two days in front of the Jolly Roger Restaurant and watched a wedding on the dock from our boat with the sea lion in the background.

We arrived in San Diego and spent 5 days preparing for our departure into Ensenada, Mexico. We were joined by our friends Wally and Linda from Ventura and they will be with us until Mazatlan, where they will settle back into their 42' foot Catalina sailboat. We provisioned, obtained the required fishing licences (in Mexico whether you fish or not, each person MUST have a fishing license) and took care of last minute odds and ends. WE ARE READY!!
