Hola - It has been over 6 weeks since we last updated our blog.... and a lot of water has passed under the bridge during that time! When we last posted to the blog we were departing La Cruz for the States for a long awaited "kids and grand kids fix". We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 week hiatus with the kids, however, it took us both considerable time to adjust to the wet and cold! I came down with a "Bad Bug" for several days (Rosie says weeks!) as a result :( It was obvious that we weren't in Kansas anymore (we had actully not seen rain since last August, so the cold and snow was a real shock to the system).
Our house in Blaine is still on the market so we did "camp" there for part of the time, thanks to brother Rick and Debbie who provided us a truck as well as eating/cooking utensils from their 5th wheel. We returned to La Cruz last Monday.... finding mid-80's and sun...ahhhhhhhh.
What's new you ask?? Wellllll..... we are in the process of making a move from sail to motor vessel (can you believe it, sailors call this going to the "Dark Side"). We have had a wonderful time sailing all these years (over 40 years now), especially on Eager Dreamer for the last 6. Our trek down the Pacific Coast aboard ED and cruising Mexico has been simply wonderful. But, as most of you know, our ultimate goal has always been to head farther south and west to the South Pacific next year, with the hope of circumnavigating over the next few years. Well, after considerable pondering, discussion and soul searching we decided that Eager Dreamer is simply too big for just the two of us to make the required multi-day crossings necessary to reach our destinations. So, not wanting to walk from our dream, we decided that "there is more than one way to skin the cat" that would still allow us to achieve our ultimate goal of circumnavigating.
Our solution... find a motor vessel designed specifically for offshore, long distance travel that two people can comfortably handle (no sails to hoist, nor to trim or reef etc..). Sure enough such a vessel does exist, its the one pictured. So, we are now in La Cruz moving our personal items off of ED to storage and listing Eager Dreamer for sale in PV/La Cruz. It has been very difficult for us to do this but necessry in order to achieve our long time dream:(
So, we will continue our travels on this 47' Nordhavn, currently in Seattle (which we will name "Serena Ray", after our middle names).
And Sooooo, "that's the rest of the story" for now. We will cruise north this spring to Alaska (a shake-down for the new boat), and then retrace our southern trek back to Mexico in the fall. More in the next update....John and Rosie

You two and your attitude will take you far....wonderfully! we miss you and look forward to seeing you when you come thru San Francisco. I am redoing the guest room in a "sailing" theme but will throw a token "darkside" boat in if it will pursuade you to spend a few days with us.

Good luck as you find a buyer for ED and set off on the new one. Jim, Sue, Mary and I usually hold a vigil for you each Friday evening with dinner and a little Hand and Foot--the boys are back on the winning track. TA gm
Wow! What a change! We wish you much luck in your continuing voyage. We're currently in La Paz and getting ready to start exploring Islands on the way to San Carlos. Can't believe this season is going by so fast! We are having way too much fun and will be back again next year. Hopefully we will share an anchorage or two with you before you point her west. We'll bring the wine!
