BaHa Ha Ha - 2008

We departed San Diego on October 26th with a nice 10-15 kt breeze at the start. This was the first time we were able to fly the rebuilt drifter...............6 to 7 kt sail for the afternoon..... felt great!!

By nightfall winds had calmed and motor-sailing was the mode.

Sunset and sunrises were beautiful, water temperature warmed as we headed south... now around 80 degrees!!!

Fishing was great fun.... quite easy to catch a fish a day... both Dorado and Yellow Fin Tuna..... cerviche was great!!!

Our first stop was Turtle Bay... 360 miles south of San Diego, and the first beach party....great local folks here. We met a lot of locals who are now wearing Potlatch hats!!!!! What fun!!

After 2 nights we were off again and heading for Bahia Santa Maria (Stop 2).... We arrived a day late, however. Friends from Blaine (Tom and Penny aboard Waverly) lost steering enroute so we (and our friends on Suebee) escorted them to Bahia Asuncion where repairs could be made. Two nights here put us into Santa Maria late in the afternoon of the party. We opted out for some resat as it was an overnight passage to catch up.

We arrived in Cabo on schedule November the 6th. This is a busy place (new cruise ships daily, pangas, jet skis, party boats etc.... Not in real Mexico yet). On Tuesday (11th) we will fuel up and begin a trek east towards Mazatlan and PV... More later!!!!!!
