The Bay of Islands for the most part are uninhabited .... many are part of the park system with great hiking trails. The anchorage above is Urupakapuka Bay..... sheep graze the hillsides here.

After a few days in the islands we decided to work our way up the coast to Whangaroa Harbour. This area is known for its fiord-like topography. Here we found fewer boats and isolated anchorages.

We had good following winds up and back. The tooth shaped rock (Nine-Pin) above lays off Cape Wiwiki and marks the north edge of the Bay of Islands and the start of our coastal run north. Below, just another sunset!!
